All-fiber optical interconnection for dissimilar multicore fibers with low insertion loss
We present a novel approach for providing low-loss optical-interconnection between multicore-fibers having dissimilar core-pitch. Using simple image formation by a graded-index-fiber-lens a significant core-pitch difference (36mm and 29mm) is compensated with low coupling loss (~1.5dB).
