Understanding Language: Learning and Teaching (UL) is a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) that the University of Southampton provides on the FutureLearn platform. Here we position the UL MOOC against the others provided by our institution, looking at the data for each run of the UL course in order to assess how the course has changed over time. The data analysis has been performed using the MOOC Dashboard tool, which has facilitated the process of data exploration. The UL MOOC data has allowed us to better understand the profile of our learners as well as observing how informal learning has the potential to impact educators’ practice.
