The data is presented for each figure containing relevant data in the paper (filenames are given accordingly). Using the data provided and normalisation parameters (where applicable), the plots in the paper could be reproduced. 
Column headings of the data are explained in the “Definitions” sheet of each data file.

1. Data for figure 3 is given in Fig3.xlsx. The velocity fields for the three shown cases are presented in separate sheets. Data for figure 3d can be found in the paper.

2. Data for figure 4 is given in Fig4.xlsx. The two velocity components and the vorticity are presented in seperate sheets.

3. Data for figure 6 is given in Fig6.xlsx. The momentum flux map for the St = 0.21 case(figure 6a) is given in sheet 'Fig a'. The momentum flux through the line y/H = 1 for all four cases (figure 6b) is given in sheet 'Fig b'.

4. Data for figure 7 is given in Fig7.xlsx.

5. Data for figure 8 is given in Fig8.xlsx. The vorticity map for the St = 0.21 case(figure 8a) is given in sheet 'Fig a'. The circulation per unit length for all four cases (figure 8b) is given in sheet 'Fig b'.

6. Data for figures 12 and 13 is given in Fig12_13.xlsx. Tracked horizontal position and girculation as function of time is presented for all four cases.

7. Data for figures 9 and 14 can be reconstructed using the data from figures 6 and 8.
