This publication, featuring the book-length essay “Field Pulsations” by Sarah Hayden and Paul Hegarty, is the first comprehensive monograph on the work of Peter Roehr. Peter Roehr (1944-1968) has been one of the significant early German conceptual artists of the 1960s. Like so many European artist, let alone those working outside of the Western cultural structures, Roehr has been marginalized form the canon of global mid-century trends. In “Field Pulsations” Sarah Hayden and Paul Hegarty analyze the extent of Roehr’s achievement across text, film, sound, objects, photographs and curated exhibitions, all within the terrain of serial form. Moreover, a detailed chronology traces the biography of the artist in the context of developments in art during the 1960s.
