Spin-polarization dynamics of exciton polaritons under the artificial gravitation effect in wedged microcavities

Spin-polarization dynamics of exciton polaritons under the artificial gravitation effect in wedged microcavities
Spin-polarization dynamics of exciton polaritons under the artificial gravitation effect in wedged microcavities

The pseudospin dynamics of exciton-polaritons in a wedged 2D cavity with ultrahigh quality factor has been studied theoretically. The effect of the external magnetic field applied normally to the cavity plane has been taken into account as well. The energy gradient caused by the cavity width variation can be described as the "artificial gravitational" force acting on an exciton-polariton. It has been demonstrated that one is possible to switch the polariton polarization in the ballistic regime by choosing the specific combination of the initial polariton wave vector, the energy gradient and the magnetic field magnitude.

Abstract

The pseudospin dynamics of exciton-polaritons in a wedged 2D cavity with ultrahigh quality factor has been studied theoretically. The effect of the external magnetic field applied normally to the cavity plane has been taken into account as well. The energy gradient caused by the cavity width variation can be described as the "artificial gravitational" force acting on an exciton-polariton. It has been demonstrated that one is possible to switch the polariton polarization in the ballistic regime by choosing the specific combination of the initial polariton wave vector, the energy gradient and the magnetic field magnitude.
