Resistant muffler for WP6T180E21 diesel engine based on GT-power
Exhaust noise occupies an important position in the agricultural tractor noise. Excessive exhaust noise will damage the driver's physical and mental health, reduce work efficiency, and is not conducive to long-term agricultural operations. Not only that, the complex muffler structure will increase tractor fuel consumption, and affect the actual use value. Therefore, it is extremely important to design a new type of muffler that can effectively reduce exhaust noise and resistance. Based on the exhaust noise characteristics of Weichai WP6T180E21 diesel engine, three key structural parameters include two baffle orifice sizes and the insertion length of the export pipe that affect the muffler performance were studied, and the orthogonal test of above parameters was carried out further to obtain the optimal structure combined muffler. Then, GT-power software was used to analyze the coupling between the diesel engine and the muffler to discuss the different performances of the mufflers with different structures. Finally, a bench test was carried out to verify the accuracy of the simulation model. Experiments showed that the acoustic and aerodynamic performance of the newly designed muffler was optimized, the decibel value was reduced by 26% and the fuel consumption was reduced by 19.3%, which has good application and popularization value.
