READ ME File for 'Dataset for Development of railway station choice models to improve the representation of station catchments in rail demand models' Dataset DOI: 10.5258/SOTON/D0302 ReadMe Author: Marcus Young, University of Southampton This dataset supports the following paper: Young, M., & Blainey, S. (2018). Development of railway station choice models to improve the representation of station catchments in rail demand models. Transportation Planning and Technology, 41(1), 80–103. DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA This dataset includes: model calibration results; underlying data for tables and graphs. The passenger survey data used to calibrate the models reported in this paper were obtained from the Welsh Government and the Transport Scotland LATIS Service. These datasets are subject to licence restrictions and cannot be made openly available. Transport Scotland, who carried out the original collection and analysis of these data, bears no responsibility for their further analysis or interpretation. The zip file, 'supporting data.zip', contains the following: /NLOGIT model outputs /latis_output_mnl.lim /latis_output_rpl.lim /wg_output_mnl.lim /wg_output_rpl.lim These files contain the model calibration results as produced by NLOGIT during the model runs for MNL and RPL models. These are plain text files. These contain the parameter estimates that are presented in Table 2, 3, 4 and 5; and Figure 10. Note that these files also contain models that were not reported in the paper for reasons of brevity. ----------------------------------- /model performance by station /latis_base_model.csv /latis_model_FM4.csv The files contain the per station performance data for the LATIS base model and LATIS model FM4. This data is used to produced Figures 8 and 9 (see Section 5.3.1 for explanation). ----------------------------------- /model performance summaries.csv /latis_model_summary.csv /wg_model_summary.csv These files contain a summary of the predictive performance of each model that was run - see Section 5.3.1 of the paper for an explanation of the performance measure. Note that these files contain models that were not reported in the paper for reasons of brevity. This data appears in Tables 2, 3, 4 and 5. ----------------------------------- /tables /tpt_tables.xlsx The results tables that appear in the paper (Tables 2, 3, 4 and 5). These are in MS Excel format. ----------------------------------- GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION OF DATA COLLECTION University of Southampton, U.K. DATE OF DATA COLLECTION Data analysis took place 10/2014 to 02/2017.
