A variety of different motions can cause sickness and reduce the comfort, impede the activities and degrade the well-being of both those directly affected and those associated with the motion sick. Studies conducted in laboratory and field environments have provided information on the causes of sickness. This paper summarises the data underlying current understanding of motion sickness; some of the information can he applied to design by ergonomists and by others.
