DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA

This dataset includes twenty six transcribed interviews with women documentary filmmakers who are currently working in the UK, making films for broadcast, limited cinematic release or film festivals/art galleries.
The interviews took place between July 2016 and July 2017 in London and two Northern cities (two interviews; the names of the cities undisclosed due to confidentiality) in my respondents’ homes, their workplaces/studios or in public places. The interviews lasted between thirty-four and seventy-nine minutes (on average fifty-five minutes), they were semi-structured and based on the indicative questionnaire sent to each participants ahead of the interview. All questions were optional to answer.
All interviews were conducted by the Researcher (Ania Ostrowska) and audio-recorded by her.
They were transcribed by the researcher (two interviews) and external transcription companies compliant with GDPR: Transcript Divas (two interviews) and GoTranscript (twenty two interviews). Each file includes the information about who transcribed the interview.

Because the researcher offered her respondents linked anonymity, each file’s title is a pseudonym rather than the real name of a respondent.
The transcripts were further anonymised by redacting the majority of identifying details, including film and TV programme titles, collaborators’ and commissioning editors’ names and other information, like detailed descriptions of concrete projects.

This dataset contains:

A ZIP archive of twenty-six interview transcripts in a PDF/A format.  
A blank Participant Consent form
A blank Participant Info Sheet.
