Abstract
Broadly tunable whispering gallery mode (WGM) microbottle resonators (MBRs) are demonstrated with Q-factor in excess of 105. Dense and complex transmission spectra of the solid MBRs were simplified substantially by using a 'shallow' MBR profile and microtaper excitation fibers with 10- μm waist diameter. Mechanical tuning by strain over full azimuthal free spectral range (FSR) is demonstrated.
