Communities of Practice Survey, 2007
Communities of Practice Survey, 2007
The term ‘community of practice’ is widely used to describe the ways in which people work and learn in organisations. It comprises three dimensions: mutual engagement, joint enterprise and shared repertoire. The Communities of Practice Survey, 2007 contains responses from 1,899 employees interviewed about their relationships at work, their learning experiences and how they rate their own work performance. The questions were designed to reveal these three conceptual dimensions. The fieldwork was carried out in a three week period in late February and early March 2007. This survey is linked to the Learning at Work Survey, 2004 (available at the UKDA under SN 6084). Both surveys were completed as part of a project set up to investigate the factors that facilitate or impede learning at work. Further information about the project can be found on the Learning as Work: Teaching and Learning Processes in the Contemporary Work Organisation project webpage (http://learningaswork.cf.ac.uk/project_team.html") and the ESRC Award webpage (http://www.esrcsocietytoday.ac.uk/esrcinfocentre/viewawardpage.aspx?awardnumber=RES-139-25-0110-A).
