READ ME File For 'Dataset for: Automatically evaluating the mobile web accessibility of Higher Education electronic texts for print impairments' Dataset DOI: 10.5258/SOTON/D1064 ReadMe Author: NEIL ROGERS, University of Southampton orcid.org/0000-0001-6159-9342 This dataset supports the thesis entitled: Automatically evaluating the mobile web accessibility of Higher Education electronic texts for print impairments AWARDED BY: Univeristy of Southampton DATE OF AWARD: 2019 ........................................................................ DESCRIPTIONS OF THE EMBARGOED DATA SETS: INSTRUMENTEcontent2016.xlsx: This data is the first iteration of the instrument that enables the automatic analysis between user tasks and device/UA control categories. The user tasks relate to the accessibility metadata available across the entire process of searching for, finding, downloading, navigating and reading etexts. It also includes a metric. Whereas the control categories relate to the accessibility settings available through API calls (or future API calls) for both devices and user agents. These are then mapped to WCAG 2.0 with input/output functionality specified. This dataset contains: the first iteration of the instrument created in 2016. This information is commercially sensitive. Date of data collection: 2016 Licence: Embargoed for 12 months ........................................................................ INSTRUMENTEcontentSubsumedFINAL2019.xlsx: This is the final version of the instrument enabling the analysis between user tasks and mobile/UA control categories. It also includes a metric. The distinction between this dataset and the 2016 counterpart is that the econtent component in the 2016 version was subsumed into the econtent format component reducing the number of automatic Barrier Walkthrough (BW) success criteria. The supporting datasets although publicly available, if you spend the time to find them within relevant standards or online API libraries, the way in which they are combined together here is unique. This dataset contains: the final instrument that was completed in 2018-2019. It is commercially sensitive information. It also contains supporting datasets for the availability of accessibility metadata for the PDF and EPUB3 alongside the API calls (and future API calls) for mobile devices and mobile browsers.
