Fighting Non-Communicable Diseases – Defining the Challenges, Seizing the Opportunities. Round table workshop, 18-19 September 2018, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Vision: to promote evidence-informed policymaking in Ethiopia with an interest in improving quality and local relevance research and implementation of health policy in relation to non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Aim:

The aim of this workshop was to bring together policymakers and health leaders from Ethiopia to discuss health policy and health systems specifically addressing problems surrounding high burden NCDs.

To achieve this, the workshop discussions focused on:

● Addressing national priorities in working towards meeting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets;

● Reflecting on health priorities relating to NCDs;

● Identifying priority research questions and training needs focused on improving health policy and public health;

● And promoting the use of data to inform evidence-based policymaking.
This agenda was designed to engage policy makers and health leaders across health topics, including NCDs, to promote evidence-based policymaking and provide the capacity for a learning health system in Ethiopia.
