Study of the packing and intermolecular interactions of some fused pyrido-pyrimidines and pyrido-pyridines
Study of the packing and intermolecular interactions of some fused pyrido-pyrimidines and pyrido-pyridines
The work presented in this study compares hydrogen bonding motifs in two families of nitrogen based heterocycle compounds, fused pyrazolo-pyrimidines and pyrazolo-pyridines. Both families have in common a 9 membered fused heterocycle containing 3 nitrogen and 6 carbon atoms with different connectivities, which give rise to contrasting chemical properties. The structural motifs of the heterocyclic cores are shown below.
The compounds studied are all constructed around these heterocyclclic backbones, with different aromatic substituents fused or connected in numerous positions around the ring. The composition of these compounds is outlined below.
The principal intermolecular interactions in these compounds arise from pi-pi stacking of the backbone moieties and a comparison of these motifs is presented.
