Simpson, Tobias Reichenbach, Steven L. Bell TITLE: Hearing aids do not alter cortical entrainment to speech at audible levels in mild-to-moderately hearing-impaired subjects JOURNAL: To be confirmed PAPER DOI IF KNOWN: to be confirmed This dataset contains: Raw electroencephalogram (EEG) data from 17 subjects with mild to moderate hearing loss (11 males, 6 females, mean age: 65 years old). EEG data were collected with a 32-channel EEG system (ActiveTwo, BioSemi, the Netherlands) while subjects were listening to an audiobook (running speech stimuli, 8 segments, taken from librivox.org). The EEG data are provided in a .bdf format, which can be read into MATLAB using the EEGLAB toolbox (https://sccn.ucsd.edu/eeglab/index.php). The data were collected under aided (subjects wearing their personal hearing aid) and unaided conditions on the same day. The speech segments are provides as .wav files (Odin_X_X.wav files). They last about 3 minutes each. Breaks were given to the subjects after each speech segment, and the subjects were asked to answer 2 multiple choice questions to determine if they understood the segment. The questions are added as a .docx file (Questionnaire.docx). Finally, an Excel sheet is provided giving demographic information about the subjects, as well as their answers to a questionnaire they were asked to complete before the experiment (Behavioural Results.xlsx file).
