Romanización, paisaje y territorio en las tierras de Antequera (Málaga, España): estudio del cambio cultural a través del análisis arqueológico espacial
In this paper some results of a pilot study upon the Romanisation of the Antequera Depression (Malaga, Spain) are presented. It focuses specifically on the analysis of changes on its territorial layout, aiming to clarify the changing affluence of visibility and relative height in settlement location during Iberian and Roman Republican times. From a methodological perspective, a number of GIS techniques are combined with statistical analysis following a well-established procedure in archaeological spatial analysis. Results showing elements of continuity and discontinuity in the territorial layout are finally interpreted within the current research on the concept and function of Romanisation developed in Europe from the 1990’s.
