Validation of railway control systems
Validation of railway control systems
This chapter presents the results of the railway domain. It focuses on the validation of a route control system using a model-based approach and formal methods. A main technical challenge is the automation of the translation step between a formalized specification and a mathematical model which allows for proofs of functional and safety properties of the solution.
The chapter will demonstrate the application and evaluation of the approach. It will show that the application of the methodologies is not only recommended by safety standards but offers the possibility to ease the verification and validation process by introducing automation steps and using methods to create results which are understandable by domain experts.
