Experimental and numerical investigation of a single jet interacting with a flat plate

The present work describes an experimental and numerical analysis of a single subsonic jet interacting with a flat plate immersed into the flow. Such study is part of an ongoing research about noise generation and propagation from subsonic jets interacting with surfaces for aeronautical purposes. A simple experimental setup has been devised in order to give insights about the acoustic of a single jet interacting with a flat plate positioned at different attack angles and at different proximity with the jet centerline. Further, a complementary numerical study was applied considering CFD and CAA (Computational Aeroacoustics) tools. Both experimental and numerical results provided a more clear view about the flow dynamics and acoustics of the investigated problem. Further studies are envisaged for a complete set of numerical and experimental investigation for the problem considered.
