Dataset title: Dataset for Horizontal electric fields from flow of auroral O+(2P) ions at sub-second temporal resolution Dataset DOI: https://doi.org/10.5258/SOTON/D1460 Readme author: Dan Whiter, University of Southampton (ORCID 0000-0001-7130-232X) Auroral Structure and Kinetics (ASK) data for Tuttle et al. (2020), Horizontal electric fields from flow of auroral O+(2P) ions at sub-second resolution Ann. Geophys., doi: ZIP file contains images in PNG format. The four sections of the images are: Top-left: ASK1, N2 1P, 673.0 nm Bottom-left: ASK2, O+ 2D-2P, 732.0 nm Bottom-right: ASK3, OI, 777.4 nm Top-right: The other 3 images reproduced in RGB format, with ASK1,2,3 in the R,G,B channels respectively. The image file name is the frame number, starting at 17400, which corresponds to 2006/11/09 21:24:54.950 UT. The frame rate is 20 Hz. The final image is frame number 17799, which corresponds to 2006/11/09 21:25:14.900. The field of view is 3.1 deg x 3.1 deg, and the centre of each image is pointed at local magnetic zenith, 76.9 deg elevation and 185.8 deg east of north. The pixel scale is 0.01225 deg/pixel. The field of view is identical for each of the 3 cameras. The location of the instrument is 69.60N, 19.20E, at the EISCAT Tromso (Ramfjordmoen) site, specifically the "PRE" building, close to the EISCAT heating facility. The cameras themselves are Andor iXon EMCCD cameras, with a sensor of 512 x 512 pixels which are binned down to 256 x 256 pixels.
