READ ME File For 'Dataset for "Aerofoil dipole noise due to flow separation and stall at a low Reynolds number"' Dataset DOI:https://doi.org/10.5258/SOTON/D1557 ReadMe Author: Jacob Turner, University of Southampton (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0522-4340) This dataset supports the publication: Jacob Turner and Jae-Wook Kim Aerofoil dipole noise due to flow separation and stall at a low Reynolds number International Journal of Heat and Fluid Flow, special issue: 11th International Symposium on Turbulence and Shear Flow Phenomena – TSFP11. This dataset contains: The ACSII (.dat) files and binary Tecplot (.plt) data files that were used to generate the figures in the paper. The Tecplot layout (.lay) files which can be used to visualise the plots. The graphic software Tecplot 360 EX can be downloaded for free (fixed-period trial version) from: http://www.tecplot.com/my/free-trial-software/tecplot-360/ The archive file MainFigures.7z contains the data for the figures 1,2,4,5,6,7,11,12 and 13, data for figures 3,8,9,10 are uploaded separately. The title of the files corresponds to the figure numbers in the paper. fig1: Computational mesh fig2: Mesh statistics (wall units and comparison to Kolmogorov scale) fig3abc: Velocity divergence contours in the xy-plane (fig3a, b and c) fig3def: 3D iso-surfaces of Q-criterion coloured by velocity magnitude (fig3d, e and f) fig4: Time averaged pressure and skin friction coefficients fig5: Sound power spectra calculated over all observers fig6: 1/3 octave sound directivity plots fig7: Sound power spectra calculated over four 12 deg observer bands fig8: 2D contours of Fourier transform of l_w (low frequency, overhead observer) fig9: 2D contours of Fourier transform of l_w (high frequency, overhead observer) fig10: 2D contours of Fourier transform of l_w (upstream observer) fig11: Frequency filtered pressure contours at six instances of time (low frequency, high angle of attack) fig12: Frequency filtered pressure contours at six instances of time (medium frequency, high angle of attack) fig13: Comparison of frequency filtered pressure contours for three angles of attack at three frequencies Date of data collection: December 2018 to May 2020 Information about geographic location of data collection: University of Southampton, U.K. Licence: creative commons attribution 4.0 international Related projects: EP/R010900/1 (Effect of Separation and Stall on Aerofoil Noise) Date that the file was created: September, 2020
