Co-learning about the role of pupil-pupil talk in developing mathematical reasoning in the classroom
This paper introduces a project exploring how small group work in the secondary school mathematics classroom can involve a particular form of talk called ‘exploratory talk’ that has been proposed as particularly beneficial for pupil learning. As a collaboration between a classroom teacher and a researcher, the project has developed a ‘co-learning agreement’ in which the contribution of each is recognised along with what each can learn. The paper sets of the how the ‘co-learning agreement’ has operated.

Abstract
