Learning to teach algebra: trainee-teachers’ knowledge of students’ errors and difficulties
This short paper summarises a study investigating trainee-teachers’ knowledge of students’ errors and difficulties in algebra. Some findings are given that indicate that only a small proportion of trainee-teachers have knowledge of all the characteristics of students' interpretations of the letters in typical algebra tasks used in schools.
