READ ME File For 'Artificial light at night (ALAN) affects the downstream movement behaviour of the critically endangered European eel, Anguilla anguilla' Dataset DOI: https://doi.org/10.5258/SOTON/D1724 ReadMe Author: ANDREW VOWLES, University of Southampton [ORCID ID: https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8253-5938] This dataset supports the publication: AUTHORS: Vowles, A.S. & Kemp, P.S. TITLE: Artificial light at night (ALAN) affects the downstream movement behaviour of the critically endangered European eel, Anguilla anguilla JOURNAL: Environmental Pollution This ReadMe file describes the Data file accompanying the above publication. For any queries please contact asv104@soton.ac.uk. The dataset contains: 1. Tab 1 "Spatial_lx_data". Contains point measurements of light intensity (lux) throughout the experimental flume area. The y and x columns give the measurement coordinates longitudinally and laterally within the flume. Includes data for when the left or right channel was illuminated for all treatments tested. 2. Tab 2 "LED_normalised_irradiance". The spectral composition of the LED units used to simulate ALAN under the low and high intensity setting, shown as normalised irradiance. 3. Tab 3 "Eel_trial_data". The raw data recorded during the experimental period. Sheet includes information on trial number, date, time, flume water temperature and eel length and weight. 4. Tab 4 "Eel_results". Results, per trial, for metrics used during data analysis, specifically: 'Initial behavioural response', 'Time to pass' and 'Route selected' 5. Tab 5 "Water_depth_velocity_data". The raw data of water depth and velocity conditions created within the flume during the study. Date of data collection: 11/11/2019 - 24/11/2019 Information about geographic location of data collection: Chilworth Science Park (Southampton, UK). Date that the file was created: 22/01/2021
