READ ME File For 'Supporting data: The role of water in the electrochemical response of platinum' Dataset DOI: 10.5258/SOTON/D1837 ReadMe Author: Tammy Nimmo, University of Southampton This dataset supports the thesis entitled "The role of water in the electrochemical response of platinum" AWARDED BY: Univeristy of Southampton DATE OF AWARD: 2021 DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA: This dataset includes the raw data associated with electrochemical experiments to study the OCP of platinum and gold rotating disc electrodes in N2 and O2 purged HClO4 and NaOH electrolyte (Chapter 3), and experiments to study the effect of water addition on the oxygen reduction reaction at platinum and gold microdisc electrodes in dimethyl sulfoxide containing TBA+ (Chapter 4) and Na+ and K+ (Chapter 5) cations in the supporting electrolyte salts. Experimental details for each file can be found by looking in the relevant chapters in the thesis and/or in the associated lab notebooks by date and file name information. The raw electrochemical data includes cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry and chronopotentiometry in the form of text files which may be imported and analysed using standard graphing software such as OriginLab or Microsoft Excel. This ReadMe file briefly describes the information contained in the folder names and file names, and a summary of the experimental data in each folder. _________________ The dataset for Chapter 3 contains the following: FOLDER NAME FORMAT: electrode__experiment__description SUBFOLDER NAME FORMAT: date (yymmdd)__electrolyte__details FILE NAME FORMAT: date (yymmdd)__electrode__electrolyte__concentration__gas__experiment__details CONTENT OF FOLDERS: Window opening folders: - ORR CVs (O2) and background CVs (N2) with increasing upper limit (EUR) at 20 mV s-1. - CVs (N2) with increasing EUR at 100mV s-1.
