AI3SD Video: Intro to Ethics
This talk forms part of the Skills4Scientists Series which has been organised as a joint venture between the Artificial Intelligence for Scientific Discovery Network+ (AI3SD) and the Physical Sciences Data-Science Service (PSDS). This series ran over summer 2021 and aims to educate and improve scientists skills in a range of areas including research data management, python, version control, ethics, and career development. This series is primarily aimed at final year undergraduates / early stage PhD students.
This video was the first talk in the Skills4Scientists #7 - Ethical Research event. This talk provided a brief intro to some of the areas of consideration when looking at the ethical conduct of research. This is not any form of formal ethics training and if you wish to learn more about ethics you should contact the relevant departments at your institution.

Dr Peter Craigon is a Research Fellow in Ethics, Legislation and Engagement in Food and Agricultural Innovation within the Future Food Beacon of Excellence at the University of Nottingham. He is working with Professor Kate Millar and Professor Richard Hyde on developing tools to encourage ethical engagement and regulatory responsiveness for researchers working in food and agricultural innovation and beyond. He previously worked at the Horizon Digital Economy Research Institute at the University of Nottingham developing a tool to enable ethical design of IT based technologies and also at the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science researching dog behaviour. Alongside this he completed a multidisciplinary PhD at the Horizon Centre for Doctoral Training also at the University of Nottingham exploring how social maps create knowledge about place.
