Long-wave IR Chalcogenide Integrated Photonic Devices without Post-deposition Processing
We have demonstrated a pedestal-based chalcogenide waveguide platform fabricated using simple Si micropatterning and thermal evaporation of chalcogenide materials. The waveguides were optically characterized in the long wave IR region between 7 and 12 μm and showed clear waveguiding throughout. Propagation losses as low as 0.5 dB/cm were measured up to a wavelength of 11 μm.
