Raman Enhanced Four-Wave Mixing in Silicon Core Fibers

Raman Enhanced Four-Wave Mixing in Silicon Core Fibers
Raman Enhanced Four-Wave Mixing in Silicon Core Fibers
Raman enhanced four-wave mixing is observed in a silicon core fiber that has been tapered to achieve strong light confinement. A total gain enhancement of 15 dB is obtained, indicating the potential for silicon fibers to be used for high power amplification of telecom signals.
