Membrane-type acoustic metamaterials for aircraft noise shields
Membrane-type acoustic metamaterials for aircraft noise shields
This work investigates the applicability of membrane-type acoustic metamaterials as efficient low-frequency tonal noise reduction means. Analytical models for the calculation of the sound transmission properties of noise shields with membrane-type acoustic metamaterials are developed. These models are then employed in the design of an experimental aircraft noise shield demonstrator, which is characterized on a vibro-acoustic fuselage test structure under realistic mounting and acoustic excitation conditions.

Abstract
This work investigates the applicability of membrane-type acoustic metamaterials as efficient low-frequency tonal noise reduction means. Analytical models for the calculation of the sound transmission properties of noise shields with membrane-type acoustic metamaterials are developed. These models are then employed in the design of an experimental aircraft noise shield demonstrator, which is characterized on a vibro-acoustic fuselage test structure under realistic mounting and acoustic excitation conditions.
