Towards an institutional sustainability innovation engine
Towards an institutional sustainability innovation engine
Delivering the University’s Sustainability Strategy will require innovation in the way we teach, research, engage, invest and in the way we run our organisation.
This need for innovation is embedded in the Sustainability Strategy Goals and a number have already successfully engaged professional services teams with academic experts to co- develop innovations and solutions.
These experiences show that there is a need for an Institutional Sustainability Innovation Engine to explicitly underpin the delivery of the Strategy. This Engine would represent a corporate R&D function focused on developing sustainability innovations that can be embedded within the University. It would do this by developing research or evidence-based innovations in strategies, practices and organisational or business models to deliberately drive sustained Sustainability-focused ‘business transitions’.
