Estimating baseline emissions using the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol: a brief introduction
Estimating baseline emissions using the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol: a brief introduction
The UK’s Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) regulations require some companies and limited liability partnerships to report their climate-related emissions on an annual basis.
One of the most widely used of these methods is the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol (O. J. Robinson et al. 2018 Table 3). This is a global standard for measuring, managing and reporting greenhouse gas emissions from private and public sector operations.
This paper gives an introduction to the GHG Protocol and provides more detailed definitions and guidance as applied to the University (or University sub-units) in a series of Appendices. The latter include notes on applying the methods to the University (or sub-units).
