The application of decision support to complex decision making
The application of decision support to complex decision making
The purpose of this research is to investigate the application of decision aids or decision supports systems (DSS) for complex decision making. The study focused on providing DSS for a particularly demanding job in tactical naval air defence. In this research, a methodology was developed to assign priorities for decision support for each task that has to be performed. The approach is empirically based, using an initial task analysis, observation and a questionnaire. Using the approach, a number of important areas for decision support were highlighted for the Naval tactical decision maker. Recommendations for providing and implementing decision aids in these areas are outlined. (D73018/87)
