Aluminium analysis in clinical samples by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry and some fundamental studies of plasma source mass spectronomy
Aluminium analysis in clinical samples by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry and some fundamental studies of plasma source mass spectronomy
Methods for the analysis of aluminium clinical specimens were developed and verified using samples which included human serum, water, dialysis concentrates and human bone.
The method developed to analyse bone sample was used to obtain a comparison of bone aluminium concentration with the number of senile plaques in selected post-mortem samples of brain tissue.
The method for serum analysis was further developed to allow accurate analysis at normal aluminium concentrations. Samples from patients with Alzheimer's disease were compared with control patients.
Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry is a technique used for elemental and isotopic analysis. Different operating conditions were used to study the distributions of elemental ion concentrations across an inductively coupled plasma. The plasma source mass spectrometer was modified for these experiments to allow high resolution sampling within the plasma gas.
