Cataleg general 1952-1981 : la intertextualitat en l'obra poetica de Joan Ferrate
The thesis analyses Cataleg general and focuses on its intertextual implications. After a brief introduction to the general characteristics of the work, we consider how far it can be viewed from an intertextual standpoint and how this relates to the concepts of parody, translation and imitation, which are all inherent features of the poems, essential when interpreting them. There follows a detailed textual analysis of the poems.
The conclusion is drawn that Cataleg general is a paradoxically original and unprecedented work within Catalan literature. At the same time, an intertextual approach enables us to see how it fits in with general trends in twentieth-century literature, insofar as its author raises issues similar to those raised by the great creative minds of our age: the ironic reconsideration of literary tradition by means of an ancient practice. He employs parody, quotation, allusion, imitation and plagiarism, questions the role of the author and, lastly, defends the reader and the importance of his function as critic. Joan Ferrate's relationship with literature has taken on diverse, but complementary forms, such as essay and translation, seen as `appropriation' -one of the basic elements of his poetic work. This thesis is written in Catalan.
