Silica-based solid supports for synthesis and separation
Silica-based solid supports for synthesis and separation
This project focused on solid phase chemistry and new supports for synthesis and separation.
The concept of “Head-to-Tail” linkers designed to allow the regeneration and reuse of a variety of solid supports was introduced. The synthesis of these linkers, their coupling to various solid supports, their application in a number of standard solid phase reactions and resin regeneration were presented.
A library of dipeptide-based chiral stationary phases was prepared and tested for chiral selectivity of a range of compounds. A new and rapid method of screening, involving mass spectroscopy was developed. Several parameters influencing chiral separation such as temperature, concentration of active sites on the CSP and types of silica particles were studied. Finally, a new method for the direct preparation of chiral columns by in situ coupling was developed.
