Coastal studies to establish suitable coastal management procedures
The basis of coastal managment policy in the U.K. is reviewed briefly. The needs of those wishing to exploit coastal resources and of those wishing to conserve the marine environment are assessed. The use of suitable studies to provide understanding of the coastal regime is suggested as a good foundation for coastal management policy. The requirements of such a study are then described briefly. (A)
