英國南安普敦大學 EMI 研究與: 教師培訓經驗分享
The Centre for Global Englishes and the International Centre at the University of Southampton have long been concerned with the development of English around the world, with particular attention to the role of English in the internationalisation of higher education. Teaching Specialist Subjects in English (EMI) is a common internationalization tool in higher education institutions and has specific implications for English learners at different educational levels. For students with good English proficiency, EMI represents an opportunity, but for students with weak English proficiency, it is a barrier, and a corresponding English curriculum is needed to help them overcome challenges. In recent years, the University of Southampton has continued to carry out EMI-related research work/activities, including EMI teaching workshops and teacher training courses. In this article, I will first analyze the findings of the EMI research conducted at the University of Southampton, and then suggest actionable teaching strategies to share with teachers on the front lines of EMI.
