Treatment and the process of care in musculoskeletal conditions - A multidisciplinary perspective and integration
Treatment and the process of care in musculoskeletal conditions - A multidisciplinary perspective and integration
This article explores the process of care of patients with musculoskeletal pain from a multidisciplinary perspective, and it briefly notes how theoretical models in the literature can contribute to this aim. It provides some justification that the management of musculoskeletal problems, such as back pain, needs to be based on a better integration of perspectives-not only those of different disciplines, but also those of the patient. In response to some of the dilemmas that arise, we identify directions for research in the field of musculoskeletal pain and disability.

Abstract

This article explores the process of care of patients with musculoskeletal pain from a multidisciplinary perspective, and it briefly notes how theoretical models in the literature can contribute to this aim. It provides some justification that the management of musculoskeletal problems, such as back pain, needs to be based on a better integration of perspectives-not only those of different disciplines, but also those of the patient. In response to some of the dilemmas that arise, we identify directions for research in the field of musculoskeletal pain and disability.
