Serum 25-dihydroxyvitamin D levels correlate with CD4(+)Foxp3(+) T-cell numbers in moderate/severe asthma
Letter to the Editor:
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by airways hyperresponsiveness, mucus hyperplasia, and airways remodeling. The immune and inflammatory processes that underpin asthmatic disease are complex and include evidence for impaired immune regulation by both Foxp3+ and IL-10+ regulatory T (Treg) cells (reviewed in Lloyd and Hawrylowicz1).
