For more than 250 years, the histories of India and ofthe United Kingdom have been intertwined. Forcenturies, the flow of humanity and expertise waslargely from Britain to the outposts of Empire. From1947, which marked both Independence and thetragedy of Partition of India, the flow of peoples hasbeen very much in the reverse, with Indianprofessionals moving in large numbers to the UK.
