The data include experimental values for pH, ammonia, volatile fatty acids, alkalinity, total and volatile solids, gas composition (CH4 and CO2) and gas production volumes. The file also includes the results of application of two theoretically-derived equations presented in the paper to this experimentally-obtained data. Additional related data collected that was not included in the current data package: Some measurements of the specific methanogenic activity of the digestate were taken but have not been included in the data package If data was derived from another source, list source: N/A If there are there multiple versions of the dataset, list the file updated, when and why update was made: N/A -------------------------- METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION -------------------------- Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: See the original paper Materials and Methods sections 2.3 and 2.4 for details on experimental and analytical methods used Methods for processing the data: See the original paper Materials and Methods sections 2.1 and 2.5 for details on processing of experimental and analytical data Software- or Instrument-specific information needed to interpret the data, including software and hardware version numbers: N/A Standards and calibration information, if appropriate: See Methods section 2.4 as above Environmental/experimental conditions: See Methods section 2.3 as above Describe any quality-assurance procedures performed on the data: Standard quality assurance as described in relevant analytical methods People involved with sample collection, processing, analysis and/or submission: Experimental work was carried out by Dr Wei Zhang, Specialist Research Technician. Dr Zhang left the University in August 2021 and, despite our efforts, we were unable to contact her to obtain her consent for inclusion either as an author or in the acknowledgements, as is required by the journal. We greatly regret this, and wish gratefully to acknowledge her considerable contribution to this work -------------------------- DATA-SPECIFIC INFORMATION -------------------------- Number of variables: Number of cases/rows: Variable list, defining any abbreviations, units of measure, codes or symbols used: Missing data codes: Specialized formats or other abbreviations used:
