Recent advances in hollow-core optical fibers
Recent advances in hollow-core optical fibers
In this tutorial I shall first review the current state-of-the-art in HCFs, describing their key optical properties and latest fabrication results, particularly in terms of loss reduction and complementary technology development. I will conclude by discussing some of the new opportunities and levels of performance that HCFs can provide in an exemplar range of applications spanning telecommunications, through laser power delivery to optical sensing and metrology.
