Behavioural macromodelling for analogue fault simulation

Behavioural macromodelling for analogue fault simulation
Behavioural macromodelling for analogue fault simulation
This paper describes the modelling of bridging defects in analog circuits as changes to the external, observable characteristics of the circuits. In producing macromodels of circuit blocks, the accurate modeling of three situations is sought: the normal circuit operation, a fault inside a circuit block, and the propagation of faulty behavior from a faulty circuit block through fault-free blocks. Moreover, faulty behavior is characterized, as observed outside a circuit block, by changing parameters to that block. The macromodels have been implemented using SPICE and VHDL-A and the two approaches are compared.

Abstract

This paper describes the modelling of bridging defects in analog circuits as changes to the external, observable characteristics of the circuits. In producing macromodels of circuit blocks, the accurate modeling of three situations is sought: the normal circuit operation, a fault inside a circuit block, and the propagation of faulty behavior from a faulty circuit block through fault-free blocks. Moreover, faulty behavior is characterized, as observed outside a circuit block, by changing parameters to that block. The macromodels have been implemented using SPICE and VHDL-A and the two approaches are compared.
