Hand to Eye

Hand to Eye
Hand to Eye
Hand to Eye aims to show exemplary pieces of craft work and, through video images made in the makers' own studios, give an insight into how they were made. Six artists were selected working in different media, each distinguished in their field, to demonstrate a range of craft processes. Each has undertaken quite traditional training, and has acquired a thorough understanding of their materials and methods, but each in their own way has taken their practice a step further. They have continued to experiment and push forward the boundaries, seeking new knowledge and new applications for their techniques.
We hope that a greater understanding of how these things are made will give a greater appreciation of the objects themselves, a respect for the creative impulses which have gone into making them, and an inspiration for further making.
All the artists in the exhibition are based in central southern England.
