READ ME File For 'Research Data for Thesis: The Development of a Miniaturized Raman Instrument for the Detection of Biosignatures on Europa' Dataset DOI: 10.5258/SOTON/D2371 ReadMe Author: Aria Vitkova, University of Southampton, ORCID ID: 0000-0001-9872-7811 This dataset supports the thesis entitled AWARDED BY: Univeristy of Southampton DATE OF AWARD: 2023 DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA All spectral data collected for this research work including Raman spectra of all molecules examined in this study and band frequency assignments obtained using an automatic peak-pick function. This dataset contains: the compressed file includes this README file and 3 data folders: 1/DATA visible NIR: which contains all data for all examined compounds at 100% concentration at 532 nm, 633 nm and 785 nm -the file includes individual file for each compound, e.g. alanine -a file including the data for the substrates and water is also included -each individual compound file (e.g. alanine) includes a file for each excitation used and the file name is denoted by the excitation wavelength, e.g. alanine 785 for the data associated with alanine collected at 785 nm -note that not all excitation wavelength were used for each compound -file name including the term 'temp' denotes a file that includes data from testing at cryogenic temperatures, e.g. alanine 785 temp -each folder, e.g. alanine 785 temp, includes: -the raw Raman spectrum data file in the original .wxd file format that can be used with the Raman Renishaw WIRE software -the raw Raman spectrum data file in .txt format that can be opened in EXCEL or any other programme -an image file (.jpeg) including the screenshot of the spectrum from the day it was obtained -a .txt exported list of Raman peaks obtained in WIRE using the peak-pick function, the file includes the frequency, intensity, band width and absolute intensity 2/DATA UV: which contains all data for all examined compounds at 325 nm -the file structure is the same as for folder 1/ 2/DATA concentration testing: which includes data of the compounds tested at various concentrations -the file structure is the same as for folder 1/ Date of data collection: October 2018 to March 2021 Information about geographic location of data collection: University of Southampton, University of Cambridge Licence: NA Related projects/Funders: NA Related publication: Aria Vitkova, Scott J.I.
