READ ME File For 'Raw images of ultra-high-speed videos to make full-field measurements' Dataset DOI: 10.5258/SOTON/D1436 ReadMe Author: Charles B. Burson-Thomas, University of Southampton, 0000-0001-9308-4669 This dataset supports the thesis entitled 'Water Droplet Erosion of aeroengine fan blades' AWARDED BY: University of Southampton DATE OF AWARD: 2020 DESCRIPTION OF THE DATA Four stacks (Runs 1-4) of 128 images (.tiff file format); 512 images in total. Captured at a rate of 5 MHz with a Shimadzu HPV-X ultra-high speed camera and Sigma 105 lens (f-stop set to f8). A Bowens Gemini 1000 Pro (set to 7.5) used to provide additional illumination. This dataset contains: the four sets (Runs 1-4) of 128 images that were used to make full-field measurements, presented in Chapter 5 of the thesis. Run 4 had the highest contrast between light and dark areas of the grid (best illumination properties), thus was the ‘best’ set of images for processing via Grid Method. This final run (Run 4) was selected to be the experimental run to compare with the models. In the thesis, data from Runs 1-3 are only presented in Figure 5.11; all other experimental data shown is from Run 4.
