The report presents an evaluation of the current battery research pipeline set firmly in the context of marine applications, taking into account the impact of the various requirements of marine on the applicability of the battery. It will also summarise the range of boats that have used battery systems either in a full electric or hybrid configuration, and the progress made by the various classification societies in certifying these boats. Overall, it will provide both a present and future perspectives on the use of batteries in boats.
