Subsystem purity as an enforcer of Entanglement
Subsystem purity as an enforcer of Entanglement

Entanglement can be generated from a very small amount of purity existing in an overall very mixed state. This possibility is demonstrated in the context of a pure state atom interacting with a mixed state quantum field through the Jaynes-Cummings model (JCM). A lower bound on the entanglement produced is given as a function of the temperature of the cavity field and time.
