Virtual fashion in metaverse

The recent emergence of immersive Metaverse technology with numerous innovations is recognized as the new horizon of virtual fashion. This can help transform the fashion business toward more sustainability. This chapter presents elements of virtual fashion, the historical evolution of the Metaverse, associated technologies, and fashion business opportunities in the Metaverse. Drawing upon the diverse aspects of virtual fashion, this study highlights the transformative impact of emerging Metaverse technologies [e.g., artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), blockchain technology, and virtual avatar] with particular focus in fashion design, manufacture, supply chain, brands, retailers, consumers, and opportunities for stakeholders. This chapter provides insights into the practical and theoretical applications of virtual fashion in the Metaverse contributing to the broader understanding of the Metaverse's role in virtual fashion industry opportunities for wider stakeholders to enable a more sustainable fashion business. Readers will get an overview of the contemporary innovations in virtual fashion with immersive Metaverse technologies.
