Off the Richter Scale: tracking misinformation in the aftermath of the Kahramanmaras earthquake
With the increasing impact of climate change, humanitarian crisis, and unstable political structures, the need for a media ecosystem capable of informing us in a timely and effective way is becoming even more important than before. However, the amount of fake news and disinformation that circulated during the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria reveals the challenges ahead. The question remains: How can we keep reaping the benefits of social media platforms, while limiting their flaws?
