Abstract
This article will explore the relationship between the historical Chinese-Sikh encounters and its impact on the representation of Sikhs in today's China including Hong Kong. By looking at their early and colonial encounters in China, particularly those that Sikhs and Chinese perceived as genuine and significant, this article aims to unpack the historical discourse that has shaped the contemporary Sikh representations in China and across the Sino-Indian borders.
